Grand Rapids, Mich. – January 11, 2011. Thriller! Chiller! Film Festival opens its 2011 season with a special screening of “Repo: The Genetic Opera,” Saturday, January 29th at the Wealthy Theatre. Doors open at 7PM and the show starts at 8PM. Tickets are $5 ($4 / GRCMC members) at the door or in advance at the Grand Rapids Community Media Center website at www.grcmc.org. “‘Repo: The Genetic Opera’ is a super fun, independent horror-rock opera that’s already built itself a cult classic reputation in the short time it’s been around,” explains festival director, Chris Randall. “Thriller! Chiller! is all about finding the new cult classics and bringing them to our community.” “Repo: The Genetic Opera” is set in the year 2056, after an epidemic of organ failures has devastated the planet; and GeneCo, a biotech company, offers organ transplants for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. The movie follows Shilo Wallace (Alexa Vega) as she searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history, leading her to the wildly anticipated spectacular event, The Genetic Opera. “Repo: The Genetic Opera” also stars Paul Sorvino of “Goodfellas” fame, Anthony Head of the “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” TV series and features a show-stopping gross out scene with celebrity heiress, Paris Hilton. “It’s a well-made, fast-paced movie that’s a bit over the top, a bit gory and a whole lot of fun,” says festival director Anthony E. Griffin. “We’re sure genre movie fans will get a kick out it in the spirit of Thriller! Chiller!” Thriller! Chiller! Film Festival is currently accepting submissions for its annual film festival in October. The festival screens movies from around the world in the genres of action, sci-fi, suspense, and horror and takes place this year from Friday, October 21st to Sunday, October 23rd at the Wealthy Theatre in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A festival pass is available on the festival website or at the Wealthy Theatre box office for $30 and is good for all events and films throughout the weekend. CommentsLeave a Reply |
